Men's Soccer Places Four on USC All-Region Teams

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Connecticut College men's soccer team placed four members on the United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Region 1 teams as announced by the organization on Tuesday.

Seniors Matt Scoffone (Thornton, Pa.). Marco Cerezo (Malaga, Spain), and Jake Creus (Madrid, Spain), along with junior Peter Silvester (Smiths Parish, Bermuda) found themselves honored.

Scoffone picked up first-team recognition after leading the Camels in scoring. The senior appeared in every game, while making 19 starts on the year. Scoffone tallied 20 points on a team-high nine goals and two assists, while picking up a team-best three game-winning goals.

Cerezo was a rock in the back line, appearing in every game, making 20 starts, and earning second-team honors. The senior helped the Camels defense limit opponents to just 19 goals against on the season, along with seven clean sheets. Cerez also chipped in offensively, providing three points on one goal and one assist.

Silvester picked up second-team accolades after starting every game in goal for the Camels. The junior tallied seven clean sheets, while recording 57 saves, finishing the season with a 0.89 goals against average, and a .750 save percentage.

Creus rounds out the honors, earning a third-team selection, finishing second on the squad in scoring. The senior appeared in every match, making one start. Creus recorded 19 points on eight goals and three assists, while adding two game-winning goals.

Connecticut College concluded the season with the programs third-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight, after capturing the programs first-ever unbeaten regular season.
