Connecticut College Soccer Camps

HADLEY, Mass. – Seniors Augie Djerdjaj (Mahopac, N.Y.) and Steve Yeonas (McLean, Va.) have been named to the All-NESCAC Men's Soccer First Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. 

Both key members of the 2021 NCAA National Championship squad, Djerdjaj and Yeonas served as team captains and led the program to three NCAA Tournament berths and 52 wins since 2018.   
 
Djerdjaj is being recognized with all-conference laurels for the third time in his career. He previously was named the 2021 NESCAC Player of the Year and landed on the first team in both 2019 and 2021. Djerdaj led the team in goals for the third consecutive year, tallying six this season. The senior ends his historic career with 22 scores, tied for ninth all-time in program history. 

Head coach Reuben Burk spoke highly of the impact that Djerdjaj had as an essential player and teammate over the past four years.

"Augie will go down as one of the best ever players to have played men's soccer at Conn and I believe that one day he will be in the Conn Athletics Hall of Fame. His achievements and contributions were that special," said Burk. "Most people will always remember Augie for his 2021 National Championship goal, however I will always remember him for his huge smile and cackling laugh. As amazing of a player as he is, he is an even better teammate, friend, and student."
 
Yeonas earned his second All-NESCAC First Team honor after a 2022 campaign that featured four goals and a team-leading four assists. Burk cited the passion that he saw in Yeonas as a driving force behind his success.

"Steve is one of the most competitive players I have ever coached and he drove his teammates to be the best they could be, always demanded success from those around him," said Burk. "Ever since mid-way through his sophomore year, he really stepped up and emerged as a leader for this program. He wore his heart on his sleeve for 4 years and he was an absolute privilege to coach."

Both Djerdaj and Yeonas are set to graduate in the spring along with seven of their teammates.
